Raid on passenger transport: Police uncover serious violations!

A comprehensive control operation took place on May 13, 2025 in the cities of Reutlingen, Tübingen and Rottenburg. Several authorities were involved, including the Tübingen traffic police, customs, tax investigation and the district office. During this measure, a total of 47 vehicles were checked and various violations were identified. In several cases, drivers did not comply with passenger transport regulations. In addition, some vehicles had serious technical defects or did not have valid insurance cover. In three cases, the drivers were prohibited from continuing their journey because their operating license had expired. The affected drivers now have to expect notices and requirements. The aim of this inspection was to increase safety in passenger transport and to detect undeclared work, such as SWP reported.

The inspection in Tübingen is not the only measure that was recently carried out. On May 15, 2025, the financial control for undeclared work at the main customs office in Dresden carried out a similar action, which also dealt with the taxi and rental car industry. Over 30 customs officers were deployed in East Saxony and Leipzig to uncover violations of labor regulations. In East Saxony, 42 taxis were checked, with 30 drivers from 22 different companies and 12 self-employed drivers being checked. There were indications of violations of minimum wage regulations in three cases. Five cases of possible minimum wage violations were also found in Leipzig, where 21 taxis and rental cars were checked. The main aim of these controls was to combat illegal employment and ensure fair competition conditions, such as Taxi Today reported.

Safety and fairness in passenger transport

These increased controls are aimed at ensuring safety and fairness in passenger transport. The measures are intended not only to increase road safety, but also to combat undeclared work in the industry. The control authorities are reacting to the ongoing violations and emphasizing the need to create fair working conditions.

The strict controls make it clear that the authorities are prepared to take consistent action against abuses. Affected taxi and rental car drivers and operators face legal consequences as authorities continue to push for compliance. The importance of such measures is undisputed, especially in an area that is crucial for the mobility of many people.
