Rheinland Insurance Group takes a big step into Sweden!

The Rheinland Insurance Group is planning a significant entry into the Scandinavian market, particularly in Sweden. This was announced during the company's general meeting on September 27th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Neuss. Chairman of the Board Dr. Arne Barinka and his colleagues reported on this pioneering expansion and the currently sharp increase in premium income. Despite a decline in consolidated earnings before taxes, which fell by six million euros to 9.6 million euros, the dividend remains stable.

The Rheinland Insurance Group, based in Neuss, is a stock corporation and part of a larger corporate structure that also includes Rhion Versicherung AG and Credit Life AG. Formerly known as “Rheinlandhaus”, the company has had an eventful history since it was founded in 1880. To this day, the majority of the shares are held by the descendants of the founders. Current sales amount to 687 million euros (2023) and the company employs around 900 people.

Investments and stock performance

As part of its investment strategy, the Rheinland Insurance Group is showing visible progress at its headquarters in Neuss. The Rhineland share was last traded at 28 euros on May 27th at 2:30 p.m., which is around ten euros below the previous year's value. These recent developments reflect the challenges and opportunities facing the company.

The Rheinland Insurance Group specializes in property insurance for private and commercial customers. With a strong focus on customer satisfaction, the group is increasingly relying on modern sales channels. The company entered the life insurance business in 1971 with the purchase of Bonner Lebensversicherung AG, followed by further expansion steps over the years, such as the founding of Credit Life International NV (2002) and Rhion (2005).

Historical milestones

  • Gründung 1880 mit 108 Agenturen im Regierungsbezirk Düsseldorf und 49 im Regierungsbezirk Aachen.
  • Umfirmierung zur Rheinland Versicherungs-AG am 1. Juli 1964.
  • Fusion der Rheinland Lebensversicherung AG mit der Credit Life AG am 1. Januar 2020.

The company's history is shaped by significant historical events, including the global economic crisis of 1929 and the Second World War, which led to damage to the “Rheinlandhaus” administration building. Today, the Rheinland Insurance Group sees itself well positioned to master the challenges of the market and successfully expand into the Scandinavian region.
