Tragic gas station robbery: Police officer dies in action!

On August 21, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in Völklingen, Saarland, in which 34-year-old police officer Simon B. was fatally injured during a robbery at a gas station. The suspect, an 18-year-old German-Turkish national, was arrested injured after an exchange of fire between him and the police. The attack occurred around 6 p.m. when the suspect was armed with a knife and was pursued by officers. Eyewitnesses reported a scuffle in which the suspect obtained the police officer's service weapon and shot Simon B. several times. A shot fatally hit the officer in the head while he was lying on the ground. Family fundraisers

As a result of the tragic incident, a fundraiser was launched for the family of the killed police officer. The police unions in Saarland started another campaign on GoFundMe to provide the family of the killed police officer with a secure future. This initiative was launched with the consent of the deceased's wife, who, along with the police family, is in a state of speechlessness and shock.

A book of condolence will be displayed in the Saarland State Chancellery from August 24th to give family and friends the opportunity to express their condolences. Saarland's Interior Minister, Reinhold Jost, and other politicians expressed their condolences and sadness over the loss of the police officer who lost his life in action. The entire police department is deeply affected and mourns the loss of their deceased colleague, whose courage and commitment are honored during this difficult time.
