Insurance scandal: Family left without help after fire in lottery shop
A tragic incident occurred in Munich: Johannes Hanrieder (38) and his wife Katrin (33) lost everything after their lottery and stationery shop in Gauting burned down on May 2nd. The damage caused by the fire is estimated at half a million euros. Hanrieder had taken out loss of income and inventory insurance with LVM, which has not paid out a cent so far, even though almost four months have passed. The family, consisting of parents of two children (7 and 6 months old), is facing financial difficulties. The cigarette company demands 20,000 euros and threatens to seize the account, while Hanrieder's private health insurance company is demanding payment arrears. However, community support is strong, with donations from various local businesses and individuals. A regular customer even left 7,000 euros for the family.
Despite the willingness to help on site, the LVM insurance company is blocking the distribution of the insured sum and is not responding appropriately to the family's inquiries. The Hanrieders' lawyer is frustrated by the constant demands for further documents that have already been submitted. Even an inventory on paper with Diddl Mouse motifs, because the laptop was destroyed in the flames, was rejected by the insurance company and demanded that it be resubmitted on neutral paper. The family may now have to take legal action to enforce their claims and receive the insurance sum. LVM Insurance has not yet made any payments, although it advertises millions of customers and contracts as well as increased sales on its homepage. The Hanrieders hope to be able to return to their renovated business premises by the end of the year in order to minimize the economic losses.
