From Formula 1 professional to Tesla expert: Schmarl GmbH on the road to success!

Schmarl GmbH in Rum has established itself as a leading family business in the body and painting industry. Under the leadership of Elmar and Jürgen Schmarl, who are the second generation to run the company, the focus is on vehicle accident repairs. In a modern, paperless working environment, insurance transactions are organized efficiently, while rental cars are provided during repairs. “We want to offer our customers the best possible service,” explains Elmar Schmarl, who is also guild master of the state vehicle technology guild in Tyrol and was motivated to take up this professional position by his father.

The team, consisting of 20 employees, including two apprentices, is highly qualified. Schmarl is particularly proud that three employees have received further training to become Tesla technicians. Schmarl GmbH has been a certified Tesla Body Shop since 2018 and is therefore the first address in Tyrol for the repair of electric vehicles from the manufacturer Tesla. This certification requires specialized training and regular reviews by Tesla to ensure the company's high standards are maintained. Major body repairs, especially to load-bearing and safety-related areas, should only be carried out at a Tesla Approved Body Shop to ensure the structural integrity of the vehicles, such as firstev.de reported.

The importance of certification

The collaboration with Tesla opens up new opportunities for Schmarl GmbH in the area of electromobility. As a certified company, it ensures that all work on Tesla vehicles is carried out in accordance with strict specifications. These requirements are crucial in order not to jeopardize the vehicle warranty. In the worst case, repairs in non-certified workshops can lead to a loss of the vehicle warranty, which underlines the importance of certification.

The company also works completely digitally. Each employee has access to a PC for processing work orders and ordering spare parts. Elmar Schmarl is proud of the progress in training, especially in the area of electromobility. “We offer extensive training that is geared to the modern requirements of the industry,” continued Schmarl. His many years of experience also come into play, as he worked as a freelancer for the Formula 1 team Toro Rosso for twelve years, where he painted racing cars.

International collaboration and awards

Another example of the versatility of Schmarl GmbH is the cooperation with the airbrush artist Knud Tiroch. As part of this collaboration, over 20 trucks and semi-trailers were designed to be painted, some of which received international awards. Schmarl plans to continue the company's success story as long as his long-standing employees are on the team. With a clear focus on quality work and innovation, Schmarl GmbH will continue to play an important role in the automotive industry.
