Broken tooth when biting into bread: Insurance surprises those affected!

On Rose Monday, Stephan Bulling from Horgenzell experienced a painful incident when he bit into a spelled bread from the bakery. The bite turns out to be unfortunate, as Bulling encountered a hard object - which he believes to be a piece of stone or metal accidentally baked into it. As a result, he swallowed the object, which not only caused him pain, but also extensive dental treatment worth around 800 euros, which he initially had to pay for himself.

However, his attempt to recoup the costs through the bakery's insurance was met with resistance. The latter refused to cover the expenses because the item that had caused the damage was no longer there. Bulling felt that he was unfairly portrayed as a liar because he always set an example of hard work and justice for his children.

Legal action and delayed insight

After an article about his case was published, the insurance company offered Bulling a settlement of 300 euros, which he declined. Before Bulling could take legal action, however, there was a twist: the insurance company ended up covering the entire treatment costs.

Bulling emphasized the importance of standing up for one's rights and decided not to give up on the issue. His disappointment at the bakery's lack of response to his attempts to contact him was obvious. Instead, he wanted an open dialogue as a sign of honest responsibility on the part of the bakery.

As Bulling's case shows, it is important to keep a few things in mind when complaining about food. The consumer advice center points out that consumers must provide their name and full address when complaining about food. In addition, important details such as the reason for the complaint and product information should be listed to make it easier for the relevant authorities to process it. If they have health problems, consumers should always consult a doctor and inform the food safety authority.

  • Behörden benötigen für Beschwerden:
    – Namen des Beschwerdeführers
    – Vollständige Adresse
    – Grund der Reklamation
    – Produktdetails
  • Wichtige Hinweise:

Legal claims for compensation or damages usually only exist if it can be proven that an illness can clearly be traced back to a specific product.

Stephan Bulling's case not only illustrates the challenges of dealing with complaints, but also the need for responsible dialogue between customers and companies.
