Train robbery in Bavaria: police chase bottle throwers with helicopters!

An incident occurred in Munich that raises numerous questions and affects rail safety. Several young people threw bottles at the windshield of an Austrian Federal Railway long-distance train on Tuesday. One of the bottles hit the window and damaged it, but the train driver and passengers were uninjured, federal police confirmed on Wednesday. The train driver reported the incident at around 4:20 p.m. after inspecting the damaged window.

The affected train was able to continue to the next station despite the attack because the damaged window was not in the driver's field of vision. The train driver observed at least two young people on a bridge who are believed to be responsible for throwing bottles. The police used a helicopter to search for the suspects, but the search has so far been unsuccessful. No details are yet known about the extent of the damage, and the federal police have initiated an investigation on suspicion of damage to property.

Warning of interference with rail traffic

The federal police warn urgently against interference in rail traffic. This can not only lead to significant delays, especially during the holiday season, but can also have legal consequences. Such incidents not only endanger the safety of travelers but can also lead to serious accidents.

A similar incident recently occurred at Erfurt Central Station, where a 37-year-old German attacked the train's security staff. The man, who was apparently drunk, insulted the employees and tried to hit their heads with his fists. However, the railway employees were able to fend off the aggressive behavior. The incident was recorded on a body camera. Despite his previous history, which included a stay-at-home order, and counteraction from security personnel, he also threw a beer can at employees during the incident. The federal police initiated criminal proceedings against the man, which included insults, trespassing and attempted grievous bodily harm.
