Settlement of QCG Computer GmbH strengthens Brainergy Park
Following Microsoft's investment in the Rhenish mining area, the lignite-rich region has seen another significant settlement. QCG Computer GmbH from Taiwan will in future produce electronic systems and devices for vehicle manufacturers in the Brainergy Park in Jülich in the Düren district, especially in the area of autonomous driving. The announcement was made by the company together with the state government.
The company plans to create 360 jobs by 2028 on a production and storage area of 20,000 square meters. In a first step, 50 new jobs are to be created by 2025. The property in Brainergy Park is being leased by QCG, with construction scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2024.
NRW Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst emphasized the importance of this settlement for the future development of the Rhenish district. The region is gradually transforming into a leading digital and quantum region and offers attractive conditions for investments from abroad. The creation of valuable, future-proof jobs is a great success in structural change and offers strong prospects locally.
The establishment of QCG follows Microsoft's investment to build high-performance data centers in the Rhein-Erft district. This development is seen as a further gain for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The hope is that more companies will prefer NRW due to its proximity to Microsoft and settle in the region. Although direct funding does not flow to QCG, the company benefits from the funding of the Brainergy Park as a future project and an attractive location for international companies.
The Brainergy Park in Jülich is being funded with a total of 79 million euros from the federal and state governments, of which 67.5 million euros will flow into the Brainergy Hub in order to strengthen the transfer of technology from research to business. Additional funds will be invested in a business incubator to promote innovation and ensure comprehensive heating and cooling supplies.
