A labor shortage leads to social withdrawal
The predominance of artificially induced “emergencies” in the Republic seems at first glance to be overwhelming. But this dominant power has a fundamental weakness. The review so far has made it clear how Germany has found itself in a highly dramatic crisis scenario that is heading towards a negative and destructive solution. This development appears to be irreversible, as much of society acts as a victim, while a significant sector of society gains power and income.
The current atmosphere in Germany is characterized by an alarm call for workers. There is an acute shortage of workers in many elementary occupations that do not require academic education. However, these “simple” jobs are by no means easy as they require intense physical and mental effort. The current labor crisis has surprised the post-industrial notion that demanding and grueling jobs would slowly disappear.
The crisis is evident in a quiet but profound withdrawal from work. This change means that the country is literally paralyzed. This withdrawal is not a conscious strike, but a gradual process in which people retire early, take up part-time work or reduce their willingness to work. This situation does not represent a temporary challenge that can be solved by higher wages, but rather marks a deeper problem with work ethic and the appreciation of work in Germany.
Spending on higher education has increased significantly in recent years, resulting in massive growth in academic education. The ever-increasing gap between academic education and the real demands of the labor market has led to an imbalance in society. Workers in “real jobs” feel devalued and are overshadowed by the burgeoning upper middle class, which enjoys far more comfortable and less stressful working conditions.
