Popular work locations: Germany in fifth place
According to a recent survey, Germany is one of the top 5 work locations worldwide, right behind English-speaking countries such as Australia, the USA, Canada and Great Britain. The survey was conducted among 150,000 workers from 188 countries. Interestingly, it turns out that employees who already live in Germany, in contrast, rarely have the desire to move abroad.
Compared to previous years, Germany seems to have lost some of its attractiveness for international workers. While it took second place in 2018, the country is now in fifth place. The survey found that only seven percent of employees surveyed in Germany are interested in working abroad. The preferred destinations for a possible job abroad were Switzerland and Austria.
An interesting result of the survey is the high willingness to migrate for work in some African countries such as Ghana, where 74 percent of respondents are open to a job abroad. An international comparison shows that the attractiveness of a job offer is a decisive factor for employees who are considering moving abroad.
The survey names London as the world's most popular city for foreign workers, followed by Amsterdam and Dubai. However, many respondents emphasized that it is not the city or country per se that is important, but rather the attractiveness of the specific job offer. Companies that offer employees from abroad attractive working conditions and support with organizational issues are ahead in this competition for workers.
