Bosch: Electromobility as a future business
Bosch boss criticizes electromobility strategy - What does the future of the auto industry look like? Find out more about the discussion about the focus on environmentally friendly mobility.

Bosch: Electromobility as a future business
Bosch's factories, which make parts for traditional combustion engines, are currently working overtime. In contrast, factories producing components for electric cars could have significantly higher production capacity. It remains unclear whether and when Bosch's investments in electromobility will pay off in all relevant markets. Other domestic competitors such as ZF and Mahle face similar challenges.
Despite the current difficulties, Bosch continues to focus on electromobility as a future business area and warns against abandoning its ambitious environmental goals. CEO Stefan Hartung argues that the transport transition can only be successfully mastered with electric vehicles. He emphasizes the need for honesty and criticizes calls to relax the rules as dishonest as this would jeopardize climate goals.
However, Hartung's perspective is criticized because it does not sufficiently take into account the social and labor market effects of the transformation. A transition to environmentally friendly mobility therefore requires measures to mitigate potential disruptions, perhaps through changing regulations. This process must take place in collaboration with citizens, as customers cannot be easily controlled. The success of the transport transition ultimately depends on the auto industry acting together with its customers rather than against them.
