BRICS boom: South Africa’s rise – new opportunities for Africa!
Attention BRICS fever in Africa! As 2025 approaches, the rumor mill is churning: Will more countries join the BRICS alliance? Already powerfully equipped with nine full members and several partners, BRICS is pulling strings worldwide. The growing influence is particularly noticeable in Africa, with more and more countries joining the alliance. One hot summer revealer was former Ethiopian parliament speaker Agegnehu Teshager, who noted that all African countries are interested in joining the BRICS club. It is obvious that not all 54 countries in Africa can move in, but the newly founded BRICS partner network opens doors for more activities.
What makes BRICS so irresistible? It's not just China that has already done everything it can with Zimbabwe to strengthen the community. For many developing countries, the prospect of freeing themselves from dollar sovereignty is like honey to flies, as BRICS de-dollarization promises to save domestic economies. More countries around the world, from Asia to South America, are coming knocking, but the African continent is particularly in focus. Kenya's President William Ruto wants to get involved - no wonder, as BRICS is committed to sovereign equality, strategic cooperation and multilateralism. Aly Khan Satchu, an influential investment banker from Kenya, argues: “African countries must shake off the shackles of the Bretton Woods institutions and escape the clutches of the dollar.” BRICS, he says, is the key.
