BRICS summit: Door opener for 30 new countries – Türkiye wants to get involved!
Attention, world! The countdown has begun: in just three weeks, the powerful nations of the BRICS alliance will meet for a groundbreaking summit in Russia. Not an everyday meeting – this event could shake up the economic landscape!
Sergei Ryabkov, the Russian deputy foreign minister, drops the bombshell: 30 countries have already confirmed their attendance. But this isn't just an ordinary meeting - what's up for consideration is which new nations could join the illustrious club. Countries from Asia, Africa and the Middle East are eager for a seat on the BRICS bandwagon, and even Turkey, which submitted its application just last month, is expected to join.
BRICS: The fight against the dollar
The currency issue is burning under the nails of the emerging economies. They want to free themselves from the oppressive influence of the US dollar. It's no wonder that the dollar acts like a log in the leg for these developing countries - many see the use of their domestic currencies as an opportunity to strengthen their economies. The solution? Perhaps it will come at the BRICS summit, which will be presented as a lifeline in the dollar madness.
What exactly is BRICS? The abbreviation stands for the founding members: Brazil, Russia, India and China, with South Africa joining in 2010. And now the ranks have expanded! Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates are already on board the rapidly growing alliance. The world is eagerly awaiting which other countries might take the plunge into the de-dollarized boat.
From October 22nd to 24th, 2024, the Kazan region of Russia will receive special attention. It will be decided here to what extent “de-dollarization” will be pushed forward. The proposal for a BRICS currency will also be on the agenda – another power play in the great global chess. And while Belarus' Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov dreams of 10 new members, the world is now anxiously counting to ten: who will be included?
