ECB survey: Inflation forecasts remain unchanged

The results of the European Central Bank's (ECB) latest survey of professional euro forecasters show stability in inflation forecasts compared to the previous survey three months ago. Analysts expect inflation in the euro zone to be 2.4% this year. In the long term, an inflation rate of 2.0% is forecast for 2025, 2026 and beyond.

Particularly highlighted is the estimate of core inflation, which is set at 2.6% for 2024 and for the following years, falling slightly at 2.1% in 2025 and stable at 2.0% in 2026. Economic growth forecasts were also revised slightly downwards. Accordingly, gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to grow by 0.5% this year, followed by growth of 1.4% next year and in 2026. In the years thereafter, a slight slowdown to growth of 1.3% is forecast.

The stable inflation forecasts and the moderate adjustments in economic growth indicate that experts expect a certain stability and balance in the economic development of the Eurozone. These assessments could indicate that the ECB's measures to control inflation and promote economic growth are seen as effective. However, it remains to be seen whether external factors or unexpected events will influence these forecasts and possibly lead to adjustments.
