Skilled immigration in focus: Successful event in Buchholz

The immigration of skilled workers was recently the focus of a successful event at BOMAG's FAYAT Academy in Buchholz. The event emphasized the urgency of immigration into the local labor market and the variety of implementation options. Practical solutions for companies were presented to attract and integrate skilled workers. Representatives such as Achim Kistner from the Regional Economic Council and Hannah Wagner from the PROMISED LAND campaign emphasized the importance of the topic and planned further events to intensively address it.

The afternoon of the event offered workshops for practitioners from companies on topics such as recognition procedures for immigrant skilled workers, integration of refugees as employees and recruitment procedures for skilled workers from EU and third countries. The complexity of the topic was emphasized, and cooperation with regional partners such as the Chamber of Crafts, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Employment Agency was mentioned as helpful support for companies.

In the evening Dr. Ingo Ettisch from BOMAG and District Administrator Volker Boch opened the event with a look at the importance of Brazil for the Rhine-Hunsrück region. Petra Dick-Walther, State Secretary in Rhineland-Palatinate, emphasized the importance of networks and regional initiatives in dealing with the shortage of skilled workers. Sarah Pierenkemper from the Competence Center for Securing Skilled Workers (KOFA) offered a scientific overview of the challenges of the shortage of skilled workers. A panel discussion was led by various representatives from politics, business and society to illuminate and discuss aspects of skilled immigration.

Overall, the event demonstrated the relevance of skilled immigration for companies and society. The integration of immigrants was highlighted as a central point in successfully meeting the challenges of the shortage of skilled workers.
