Free Democrats are committed to growth

According to FDP leader and Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner, the German economy is in a stagnating phase. At the Free Democrats' economic congress in Berlin, concrete solutions were discussed to overcome the ongoing weak growth. Lindner emphasized that a growth-oriented economic policy is essential to improve individual living situations and maintain the European order of freedom.

The declared goal of the Free Democrats is to double the potential growth in Germany. Lindner emphasized the need for good framework conditions from the political side, which must be actively used by business. After a decade in which, according to Lindner, Germany remained below its potential, a catch-up effort is now required in order to achieve top performance in various areas again.

The Skilled Immigration Act was an important step in removing brakes on the labor market. Lindner stressed the importance of a critical review of social systems to ensure they are designed to put and reward people into work. He also emphasized that the implementation of the Meseberg bureaucracy reduction package would reduce the national bureaucracy burden to its lowest level since 2012.

A central aspect for Lindner was the financing of the expansion of renewable energies from the market, without high subsidies from the taxpayer. He called for market economy instruments instead of billions in subsidies. Lindner also emphasized the importance of private capital for the realization of economic projects and advocated that politicians should not decide what disruptions will occur in the market.

Lindner also spoke out in favor of extending the measures under the Growth Opportunities Act in order to improve companies' liquidity. He emphasized that tax cuts are also necessary, in particular the complete abolition of the solidarity surcharge, in order to provide short-term relief for companies. He also announced that he wanted to push forward the EU's capital markets union and improve the conditions for banks and the financial center in Germany.
