Uncover dead spots: Saxony starts nationwide mobile phone measurement week!
Saxony invites you to the nationwide mobile communications measurement week (May 26th - June 1st, 2025) to identify dead spots and improve network quality.

Uncover dead spots: Saxony starts nationwide mobile phone measurement week!
The Saxon population has the opportunity to actively participate in the first nationwide mobile phone measurement week, which will take place from May 26th to June 1st, 2025. The aim of this campaign is to detect dead spots in the mobile network and thus make network availability visible from the user's perspective. The Economics Minister of Saxony, Dirk Panter (SPD), calls for participation and emphasizes the importance of a high number of participants for a more precise picture of mobile phone coverage in Saxony and Germany as a whole.
The mobile communications measurement week will particularly focus on rural regions and areas with difficult topography. So far, Saxony has a high level of coverage, with coverage of 98.80 percent for 4G/LTE and 96.06 percent for 5G. Nevertheless, the everyday experiences of users should be taken into account more in order to make possible gaps in care visible.
Active participation desired
Citizens are invited to record their mobile phone coverage. To do this, you can use the Federal Network Agency's app, which was developed for broadband measurement. The data collected is anonymously incorporated into the wireless hole map of the federal government’s “Gigabit Land Register”. This is happening as part of an initiative by the federal, state and local governments that aims to improve the digital infrastructure in Germany.
The mobile communications measurement week is intended to analyze user experiences in a differentiated manner. In this way, work can continue to improve the quality of mobile communications coverage - a step that is part of a project by the new federal government to assess network quality.
Given the great importance of mobile communications in people's everyday lives, a broad group of participants is needed in order to obtain the most precise data possible. The success of this initiative depends crucially on the participation of citizens, which is why education about the measurement week is very relevant.
The mobile communications measurement week will officially kick off on May 25, 2025, and it remains to be hoped that many people in Saxony will take an active part in improving mobile communications coverage together. Interested citizens can find details on how to participate on the Saxony Digital Agency website Digital agency Saxony and in reports from South Germans.
