New border controls on the German-Polish border endanger Tesla's location in Brandenburg and put a strain on 80,000 companies.

Border controls endanger Tesla and 80,000 Brandenburg companies!
The Brandenburg economy is facing significant challenges due to new border controls at the crossings between Germany and Poland. Trading House reports that the Tesla location in Grünheide is particularly affected by these measures. In a letter to Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, the Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Cottbus and East Brandenburg draw attention to the massive damage that threatens the economic situation in Brandenburg.
The IHKs warn that around 80,000 companies are suffering from the new border controls, with both large companies such as Tesla and numerous small and medium-sized companies, especially in the logistics sector, being restricted in their ability to act. The problems result from the disrupted cross-border commuter traffic, which is exacerbated by the Polish government's reaction to the German controls.
Warnings of economic consequences
The IHKs fear that there is a risk of losing competitiveness. This could lead to price increases, delays in employee commutes and delays in production and supply chains. “Intra-European border controls should remain the exception and must not be carried out on the back of one region,” demands an IHK representative. Tixio adds that the associations are demanding immediate solutions to the problems in commuter and goods transport.
Several measures are proposed to improve the situation. This includes the establishment of a “fast lane” or a second control lane on the A 12 and A 15 motorways. In addition, joint border control should be set up between the federal police and the Polish border guard. Another suggestion is to issue passes to enable smooth border crossing.
The situation is alarming and requires quick action in order to stabilize Brandenburg as a business location and not to further endanger companies like Tesla and the many small and medium-sized companies.
