Henckel new in office: Transport revolution for Schleswig-Holstein is coming!
Susanne Henckel was appointed today as the new State Secretary for Transport in Schleswig-Holstein. Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) announced the appointment during a cabinet meeting. The experienced specialist brings extensive knowledge in the areas of federal highways, railways, waterways, ports and shipping, which she acquired in her previous position as State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Transport.
Henckel succeeds Tobias von der Heide (CDU), who is moving to the Ministry of Education. The new Education Minister Dorit Stenke took over her post in May and is succeeding Karin Prien (CDU). Prime Minister Günther emphasized that there are many challenges in the transport sector that need to be overcome.
Visions for the transport sector
As part of her new tasks, Henckel has clear plans for the further development of local public transport, the rail network, shipping and the ports in Schleswig-Holstein. Transport Minister Claus Ruhe Madsen (CDU) described it as a “stroke of luck” for the country and is of the opinion that Henckel’s experience will make a decisive contribution to pushing forward infrastructure projects.
A central point of their work will be the special infrastructure fund, which was set up to close financing gaps and accelerate projects. Henckel has already gained valuable insights into the current challenges and needs through several visits to the state.
Sustainable mobility in focus
Parallel to Henckel's appointment, Mobiliteam by NAH.SH is the central contact point for sustainable mobility in Schleswig-Holstein. This project, commissioned by the Schleswig-Holstein state government, offers comprehensive offers for all municipalities, regardless of their size.
The focus is on supporting the mobility transition locally. Mobiliteam promotes the development and implementation of sustainable mobility solutions through consulting, networking, knowledge transfer and qualification. The opportunity for communities to exchange ideas and learn from one another is viewed as a shared task.
Henckel's new role and Mobiliteam's initiatives could be crucial in moving Schleswig-Holstein forward on the path to sustainable mobility. Those interested can find further information about Mobiliteam on the website NAH.SH, while the appointing details on Süddeutsche.de can be read.
