Insolvency shock in newcomers: mechanical engineer fights for jobs!

In Baden-Württemberg, the mechanical engineering industry has reached a difficult phase. TF Wickeltechnik GmbH from newcomers in the Enz district has filed for bankruptcy. The company, which specializes in automating reel-to-reel processes, serves customers in 30 countries. The manufacturer's machines are used in stamping shops, electroplating as well as in pipe and wire processing.

Despite the bankruptcy, TF Wickeltechnik GmbH gives top priority to preserving the jobs of its eleven employees. Insolvency money secures wages until July, while managing director Markus Weißenberger and insolvency administrator Tobias Hirte work on restructuring options. The main goal is to maintain employment and process ongoing and new customer orders. The causes of the insolvency lie in the economic consequences of the corona pandemic and geopolitically-related price increases, which led to a decline in sales.

Wave of bankruptcies in the construction industry

Insolvency auctioneer Fabian Altrichter offers services that also include the liquidation of office equipment and other assets of companies going bankrupt. While some companies such as Römertopf, Arko and Hussel filed for bankruptcy, experts such as Reint Gropp from the IWH show a cautious attitude towards the term “wave of insolvencies”. They emphasize that the current numbers are not significantly higher than before COVID-19.

The Federal Employment Agency supports personnel costs during insolvency proceedings in order to minimize job losses. Examples of successful restructuring, such as the shoe retailer Görtz, which successfully completed insolvency proceedings after applying for a protective shield, offer hope in these challenging times.

The future remains uncertain for TF Wickeltechnik GmbH, but the focus on restructuring and maintaining jobs gives the parties involved a reason for hope.
