Conference offers solutions: Strengthening Germany’s logistics for the future!

The CONFERENCE DAYS 2025, which started on May 12th at 9:00 a.m., is a major virtual event that runs from May 12th to 15th and includes around 30 sessions with 70 speakers. Loud Logistra Rainer Langhammer, Managing Director of Munich-based HUSS-VERLAG GmbH, opened this B2B event. Registration for the event is free and offers a platform for knowledge transfer and digital networking opportunities.

In his opening remarks, Langhammer spoke about the current economic and social challenges that Germany and Europe are facing. Prof. Dr. Thomas Wimmer, honorary chairman of the Federal Logistics Association (BVL), outlined the challenges in logistics and quoted Prof. Dr. Marcel Fratzscher, who identified three crucial transformations: the threat to globalization, rapid technological developments and social change.

Challenges of the logistics industry

The challenges in the logistics industry are diverse: digitalization, sustainability, economic uncertainties and volatile markets are the focus. This emerges from an interview with Eric Gastel and Markus Lanz from InterLog Management, as on Transportation industry is reported. The industry is also facing new expectations from employees and customers and is suffering from a skills shortage.

To meet this challenge, InterLog Management invests in training and further education as well as in modern work and career models. Technological innovations such as digitalization, artificial intelligence and automation are increasingly shaping the industry. The DACH region is also considered a pioneer in the networking of processes and the use of data.

Sustainability as a strategic task

A central concern of the logistics industry is sustainability. InterLog focuses on sustainable concepts at logistics locations and has moved into CO2-neutral office space in Dortmund. Furthermore, e-mobility is promoted in Austria. Despite economic uncertainty in the DACH region, there is a positive willingness to invest in logistics.

The experts recommend that companies invest in their employees and establish a modern corporate culture. The use of technology, especially digitalization and automation, is essential. Flexible planning and adapting logistics concepts to current requirements are further important measures. According to Wimmer, optimism and a focus on Germany's strengths, such as the rule of law and a resilient economic structure, are crucial to mastering the challenges.

The Conference Days 2025 are therefore not only a platform for discussing current topics, but also a place where future-oriented strategies can be developed. Expired sessions are available as a stream, which increases the accessibility of the content and promotes exchange within the industry.
