Critical discussion on capitalism: Seminar for young people at Mariaspring!
In the coming period, the ver.di union will be organizing a seminar for young members entitled “Economy – Capitalism – Crisis”. This seminar will take place from November 28th to November 30th, 2025 in the Mariaspring conference center. ver.di thus offers a platform for a critical examination of the existing economic system and its challenges.
The seminar aims to address young people up to their late 30s who would like to engage in active exchange. In-depth discussions are planned on topics such as the emergence of the capitalist economic order, an overview of economic development in different eras and the current economic policy challenges. In addition, capitalism is questioned from the perspective of employee interests, and alternative economic models and approaches to overcoming crises are presented.
Seminar content and participation
A special feature of the seminar is the possibility of taking part in individual modules, which increases flexibility for the participants. This structure allows participants to specifically select topics that are most relevant to them. Those interested should register via the email address U35.sued-ost-nds@verdi.de. If you have any questions, please contact Corinna Jahr on 0175 2416654 for Braunschweig and Frederike Steiner on 0171 9169615 for Göttingen.
The seminar is part of the “Perspective U35” series, which aims to offer young people a forum in which they can actively engage with social and economic issues. This not only promotes the participants' understanding of complex economic relationships, but also their involvement in the union.
The comprehensive examination of the topic of capitalism is particularly important against the background of current global economic crises. Critical reflection and learning alternative approaches could offer participants valuable perspectives for their professional and personal lives.
For further information on the content and background of the seminar, reference can also be made to the publications of the Federal Agency for Civic Education, which deal in detail with economic issues. Insiders can find useful information about this in the bpb.
At a time when the economic order is often criticized, the ver.di seminar will be an important step to bring young voices into the debate and point out the need for change in the economic system. Further details about the event can also be found directly on the ver.di website can be viewed.
