Latin America Forum Bavaria 2025: New opportunities for the economy!

On May 6, 2025, the Latin America Forum Bavaria took place in the premises of the IHK for Munich and Upper Bavaria. The event, which was attended by around 300 people from business, politics and science, was held under the motto “Economic Transformation – Global Opportunities” and aimed to shed light on the potential and cooperation opportunities between Bavaria and Latin America.

The event was opened by Christoph Angerbauer from the Munich Chamber of Industry and Commerce and State Secretary Tobias Gotthardt. The event logo, a chameleon, which stands for adaptability and innovative strength, was particularly symbolic. Participation was free and aimed at entrepreneurs as well as decision-makers and experts who were interested in economic cooperation with Latin America.

High-profile discussions and workshops

Various panel discussions took place as part of the forum. Experts like Dr. Ulrich Sante, Dr. Christian E. Rieck, Orlando Baquero and Christian Hoffmann discussed fundamental topics such as the role of geopolitics as a driver of economic transformation and the effects of global power shifts, especially in the context of the USA and China. The integration of Latin America into the global economy was also discussed.

Central topics such as the sustainable use of raw materials, the development of trade routes and the exchange of skilled workers were discussed in interactive workshops. Representatives of the foreign chambers of commerce (AHKs) offered individual advice to support companies entering the market or deepening existing business relationships.

Pitch Your Country and Networking

Another highlight was the “Pitch Your Country” session, in which AHK representatives from over a dozen Latin American countries presented market updates and cooperation opportunities in promising areas such as renewable energy, medical technology, sustainable agriculture and shared services. This offered participants the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the economic opportunities in Latin America.

In addition, the entrepreneur dialogue included an exchange about the experiences of Bavarian entrepreneurs with market entry and business development in Latin America. Challenges such as bureaucracy and different business mentalities were addressed in this context. This underlined the importance of personal contacts and networking during the event.

In summary, it can be said that the Bavarian Latin American Forum has given numerous strong impulses for Bavarian-Latin American economic relations. Latin America is proving to be an attractive partner for Bavaria, with patience, cultural sensitivity and the development of long-term relationships being identified as fundamental requirements.
