Mona Neubaur on summer tour: Focus on future projects in NRW!
The summer tour of the Deputy Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Mona Neubaur, will take place from July 16 to 18, 2025 and is aimed at visits to projects, companies and initiatives that are actively involved in shaping the future locally. The tour will include stops in the Lower Rhine, East Westphalia-Lippe and the Cologne-Bonn region, where Neubaur will meet with citizens, entrepreneurs and municipal actors who are committed to their community. This initiative is part of a targeted strategy to promote sustainable development and innovation in the region, such as wirtschaft.nrw reported.
On the first day of the tour, which is dedicated to the Lower Rhine, Neubaur visited several interesting stations. This includes Camper Schmiede GmbH in Mönchengladbach, which specializes in the individual conversion of vans into campervans. She also went on a walk with the “Loved Quarter” initiative, which deals with the design of public spaces and community activities. Another stop was the state's most popular ice cream parlor, known for its high-quality, natural ice cream creations. She also visited De Kull Jugendhilfe e.V., where a soccer tournament and various participation activities for children and families took place.
Day 1: Projects with a future
Another highlight was the presentation of the “Juiser Feld” model settlement in Nettetal, which demonstrates the city and municipal utilities’ commitment to sustainability. In Rheinberg, Neubaur discussed the municipal sustainability strategy with local actors in order to provide further impetus for ecological projects.
The summer tour continued in East Westphalia-Lippe on July 17th. Neubaur visited Hermann Bock GmbH in Verl, which offers innovative solutions in the healthcare industry and operates a reprocessing center. Another stop was the private brewery Hohenfelder GmbH in Langenberg, which promotes local value creation through sustainable production methods. She also let Verve! e.V. in Neubeckum, which, as a district living room, offers an open cultural and voluntary forum.
Day 2: Innovation and Culture
The third and final day of the summer tour, July 18th, took Neubaur to the Cologne-Bonn region. The focus here was on the city of Lohmar, where sustainable building and ecological issues were discussed. As part of the “NRW plants” campaign, the importance of trees for people and the climate was discussed. Companies such as Fullwood Wohnblockhaus – LK-Fertigbau GmbH, which specializes in timber construction and multi-family houses, were also visited. Environmental education and protected area management were also on the agenda when Neubaur visited the Oberberg Biological Station.
She also stopped at panpan Brotmanufaktur Kraus GmbH and Weber Fruchtsaftkelterei, which promote local added value in food production. In discussions with the municipality of Windeck, the commitment to local tourism and the expansion of the tourist offer was discussed. Yellotools GmbH, which produces innovative tools for the advertising industry, concluded their visits before the portrait of GreenGate AG, a provider of software solutions for technical system and maintenance management, was presented.
The summer tour is an important step to strengthen the innovative strength and diverse commitments in the North Rhine-Westphalian creative industry. This also became clear during Neubaur's summer tour in 2023, when she visited the “freischwimmer” initiative in Krefeld on July 31st and found out about urban development oriented towards the common good and climate protection. Here the old imperial baths were revived in order to develop new forms of community. Neubaur emphasized how important the creative industries are for North Rhine-Westphalia as a location, especially in times of crisis, and highlighted the factors that promote successful entrepreneurship, such as the company FOND OF, which develops sustainable products.
In view of these initiatives, which combine both social and economic aspects, the summer tour shows that North Rhine-Westphalia is well on the way to driving forward innovative and sustainable projects that strengthen the sense of community and enable sustainable development.
