Prize winner from Hannover University of Applied Sciences: Award for innovative teaching!

On June 4, 2025, the Hannover University of Applied Sciences (HsH) teaching prizes were awarded as part of “Teaching Day”. This event, which serves as an exchange platform for teachers from all faculties, received almost 120 nominations from students this year. Vice President for Teaching and Studies, Annika Schach, emphasized the importance of excellent teaching at the HsH, where prizes are awarded annually for special teachers, teaching concepts and tutorials. An interdisciplinary jury was responsible for selecting the prize winners, who had to convince with innovative didactic methods, practical relevance and subject-didactic competence.

The 2025 award winners from Hannover University include:

  • Beste interdisziplinäre HsH-Lehrveranstaltung 24/25: „Interprofessionelle Zusammenarbeit in Palliative Care“, Preisträger: Verena Begemann, Anja Goral, Kirsten Kopke, Kambiz Afshar (MHH), Sven Schwabe (MHH). Das Seminar beschäftigte sich mit der Verbesserung der Versorgungsqualität am Lebensende.
  • Beste Lehrveranstaltung 24/25: „Unternehmensfinanzierung und Kapitalmarkt“ von Dirk Heithecker, der durch praxisnahe und interaktive Lehrmethoden überzeugte.
  • Bestes Tutorium 24/25: C-Programmierung unter der Leitung von Christophe Stive Tchokouaha Djiaha, das theoretisches Wissen mit praktischen Anwendungen verband.
  • HsH Gender-Preis für die beste Abschlussarbeit: Alenka Jepsen für ihre Masterarbeit über die Berichterstattung über Femizide in deutschen True Crime Podcasts, die wegen ihrer wissenschaftlichen Qualität ausgezeichnet wurde.
  • HsH-Lehrpreis-Trophäe: Der Siegerentwurf von Daniela Braun, gestaltet in Kooperation mit Studierenden des Studiengangs Produktdesign.

Teaching awards from the Leibniz University Hannover

In contrast, the 2024 Teaching Prize, which is awarded for outstanding teaching, took place on May 7, 2025 at the Leibniz University of Hannover (LUH). Over 400 nominations were submitted for 140 teachers. This prize is awarded in three categories: motivation and inspiration, strategy and transfer, and professionalization and teaching culture. Each award is endowed with 2,000 euros to support future teaching measures.

The LUH award winners are:

  • Kategorie 1: Motivation und Inspiration: Hanifa Abdul Hassan, die „unconscious bias“ und Rassismus behandelt, sowie Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stephan Kabelac, der nachhaltige Lernansätze verfolgt.
  • Kategorie 2: Strategie und Transfer: Rebekka Wandt, die akademische Lehre mit praktischer Anwendung kombiniert.
  • Kategorie 3: Professionalisierung und Lehrkultur: Dr. Lena Heidemann, die den Studiengang Bildungswissenschaften entscheidend geprägt hat.

Both universities are sending a strong signal for the importance of high-quality teaching and the support of teachers as well as innovative teaching concepts. While the research focuses and concepts vary, the commitment to students remains consistently high through the respective teaching prizes and awards at both institutions.
