S-Bahn chaos in Schöneweide: Six lines paralyzed due to a lack of staff!

Today, July 19, 2025, there will be massive restrictions on S-Bahn traffic in southeast Berlin. A short-term staff shortage in the Schöneweide signal box means that several S-Bahn lines are interrupted. The South German newspaper reported a lack of staff, which further aggravated the situation.

Six S-Bahn lines are affected, including the S45, S46, S47, S8, S85 and S9. According to the Berlin newspaper The S46 only runs between BER Airport and Schöneweide, while the S47 runs between Spindlersfeld and Schöneweide. The S8 traffic is completely canceled south of Ostkreuz and the S85 is currently not running.

Replacement traffic set up

Passengers have to be prepared for considerable delays as there are no S-Bahn trains running between Schöneweide and Baumschulenweg. In order to transport the affected travelers, a replacement bus service was set up between Schöneweide and Treptower Park. The buses stop at the S-Bahn stations Treptower Park, Plänterwald and Baumschulenweg.

In addition, the Airport Express (FEX) now stops in Schöneweide to offer passengers at BER Airport an alternative connection. The restrictions are expected to last until Saturday at 8 p.m., according to the report South German newspaper is called.

The S-Bahn Berlin asks its passengers to adapt to the changing circumstances and, if necessary, consider alternative travel routes.
