Economy in Lusatia: Small rays of hope, big challenges!
The mood in the economic landscape of Brandenburg's Lusatia is showing positive signs, but the overall situation remains tense. According to a current economic survey presented by the IHK-Cottbus, 84 percent of companies rate their situation as good or stable. This suggests that the situation of some companies has stabilized, which may bring some optimism to the region, but the challenges still cannot be underestimated. Despite the ray of hope, IHK general manager André Fritsche explained: “A small ray of hope, but still no impetus for a noticeable turnaround.” This illustrates the mixed mood among companies.
The survey, in which a total of 1,700 companies took part, reveals that the risks for companies remain high. In particular, foreign and domestic policy conditions as well as rising energy and raw material prices represent major burdens. Labor costs and bureaucracy also have a negative impact on business activities in Lusatia. Many small businesses also find themselves severely limited in their time for business and investments.
Investment plans and political expectations
Nevertheless, there are positive signs: almost a quarter of the companies surveyed plan to invest more. This corresponds to an increase of seven percent compared to the previous year. However, companies make it clear that they have great expectations of politics, both at the federal and state levels. They are calling for quick measures to speed up the often lengthy approval procedures and to improve the framework conditions.
The retail industry, however, remains cautious, which indicates a cautious assessment of economic developments. The financial situation of companies has improved slightly, but this is not enough for entrepreneurs to speak of a complete turnaround.
In summary, the current survey results bring positive benefits, but also underline the need for a clear political approach. Companies in Lusatia hope that politicians will react promptly to create the conditions for sustainable economic growth. Further information on this topic is available here Cottbus.de to find.
