Wissing moves from politics to business: New advisory board at Christ Capital!
Volker Wissing, the former Federal Transport Minister, has taken a new career path and is moving from politics to business. On August 28, 2025, it was announced that Wissing would take over the chairmanship of a new advisory board of Christ Capital GmbH. In his new role, he will lead an advisory committee responsible for the entire group of companies.
Christ Capital GmbH is not only a group of companies, but also includes the well-known consulting firm “Joschka Fischer & Company”, which is headed by the former foreign minister and Green Party politician Joschka Fischer. Wissing, who most recently headed the traffic department in the traffic light coalition under Chancellor Olaf Scholz, remains active within the political structures after leaving the FDP.
Political career and turning points
Wissing was Secretary General of the FDP from 2020 to 2022 and then held the office of Federal Transport Minister. After the government coalition broke up in November 2022, he resigned from his party, but remained as the only liberal in Olaf Scholz's cabinet. He also took over the Federal Ministry of Justice until the new black-red federal government was formed in May 2023.
His new position at Christ Capital GmbH requires the approval of the federal government. According to the provisions of the Ministerial Act, such activity can be prohibited for up to 18 months after leaving office under certain conditions in order to protect public interests. Wissing said in a statement that he valued Harald Christ, the owner of Christ Capital GmbH, as a person and entrepreneur. This appreciation is confirmed by Christ in the step of appointing Wissing, who sees this appointment as a clear signal in the market.
Collaboration with Christ Capital
Harald Christ himself has an eventful political past. He was initially a member of the SPD and served as a representative for small and medium-sized businesses before leaving the SPD at the end of 2019 and joining the FDP in 2020, where he worked as federal treasurer. Christ also left the FDP in December 2022, which underlines his personal and professional change.
The news about Wissing's move into business was broadcast on Deutschlandfunk and also in the World published. Wissing's involvement with Christ Capital GmbH could bring new dynamics to the company's consulting projects and represents a further step in bridging politics and business.
