German economy worried: de-industrialization” threatens the location
More and more business associations are warning of “de-industrialization” as Germany becomes less attractive as a location. An entrepreneur, Martin Herrenknecht, denounces the traffic light coalition's policy and describes it as distributing money with a watering can. He emphasizes that decisions such as citizen's allowance have led to demands for wage increases and the four-day week, which reduces the attractiveness of the German location. Herrenknecht sees the future of his company abroad and is planning investments in India, where he expects promising dynamics in infrastructure projects.
Herrenknecht also calls for a reassessment of economic policy in Germany. He criticizes the share of social costs in the federal budget, which he believes is too high. The entrepreneur is calling for investment in infrastructure and a reliable energy supply, as well as the construction of power lines from north to south. He also advocates an appropriate defense policy and a reduction in social spending to a proportionate level in order to free up funds for economic development.
The employers' association Gesamtmetall and the trade union IG Metall join the warnings of deindustrialization in Germany. They are calling on the federal government to take measures to strengthen the business location, including competitive energy costs, more attractive investment conditions, accelerated infrastructure expansion, faster approval procedures and a raw materials strategy. In view of the shortage of skilled workers, they emphasize the need for increased support for education.
