EU funding strengthens Saxony's economy: Minister Dulig draws a positive conclusion
According to Economics Minister Martin Dulig (SPD), EU funding has had a positive impact on the economy in Saxony. In the last funding period, numerous successes were achieved with the EU structural funds, which helped to strengthen the competitiveness of companies in the long term. In addition, well-paid jobs were secured and cooperation between business and science was promoted.
A study on the effectiveness of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for the period 2014-2020 confirmed the successful implementation of the program. The measures proved to be effective and made a significant contribution to achieving the set goals. These included strengthening research, technological development and innovation, promoting the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, reducing CO2 emissions, risk prevention and sustainable urban development.
In total, Saxony received 2.1 billion euros from the ERDF in the funding period examined, which was invested in over 15,000 projects. For the current funding period from 2021 to 2027, an amount of around 1.95 billion euros is earmarked for the Free State. Minister Dulig emphasized the importance of EU funding for Saxony and emphasized that Europe is crucial for the state's economy.
