FDP reiterates call for economic turnaround

At its party conference, the FDP reiterated its call for an “economic turnaround”. According to Secretary General Djir-Sarai, work and performance should be rewarded appropriately and bureaucracy should be reduced. The deputy FDP leader Vogel pushed for a joint bill from the traffic light coalition for this economic turnaround before the summer break.

The previous day, delegates adopted a twelve-point program entitled “Economic Turnaround”. It called for measures such as tax cuts, cuts in citizens' benefits and the end of state subsidies for renewable energies. The pension without deductions at 63 for the long-term unemployed is also to be abolished.

The debate about these demands and the program shaped the FDP party conference. The party is determined to initiate changes in economic policy and is counting on the government to implement its proposals.
