Friedrich Merz, the German Chancellor, recently made headlines with his visit to US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office. The Chancellor expressed that he had a different opinion than Trump regarding the Ukraine conflict and criticized the ex-president's public lectures. He called for more dialogue and understanding of the complexity of political situations. Merz is convinced that Trump has no plans to withdraw from NATO, which he considers important for transatlantic relations. The importance of German exports to the USA, especially for the automotive industry, was also discussed. Finally, after his speech, Merz received a standing ovation, which underlined his positive response from company representatives and his authority as Chancellor.
