NORDMETALL: Strong voice against bureaucracy – your mouthpiece in politics and administration

Germany is facing a growing bureaucratic burden that is making it increasingly difficult for companies to operate efficiently. With more than 12,000 reporting requirements and annual costs of around 50 billion euros, the situation is worrying. The Federal Government's Regulatory Control Council warns in particular of the effects of this bureaucracy on small and medium-sized companies, which will be placed under a heavy burden both financially and in terms of personnel. This burden means that innovations are inhibited and Germany is harmed in international competition.

NORDMETALL, an association of the metal and electrical industry in northern Germany, has set itself the task of supporting companies in this sector and strengthening their voice in political matters. The President of NORDMETALL, Folkmar Ukena, emphasizes the need for an industrial policy that unleashes the market through tax and duty reductions and does not hinder the transformation processes in the economy through unnecessary regulations. He calls on politicians to concretely implement suggestions from companies and associations in order to reduce the burden of bureaucracy.

Despite many proposals submitted, politicians have so far only taken a fraction of them into account in the bureaucracy relief law. However, companies and associations managed to be able to keep employment law documents digitally, for example. This represents an important step towards a modern administration. A state initiative from Schleswig-Holstein to reduce bureaucracy for medium-sized businesses in the Federal Council is also supported by NORDMETALL. Further suggestions are made, such as the regulation of abolishing two old laws for every new law or carrying out practical checks in the legislative process. It is now up to the federal government to implement these suggestions promptly in order to relieve the burden on companies.
