Rich brings new hope for medium-sized businesses: package of measures announced!
Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche (CDU) today presented a comprehensive package of measures to support medium-sized businesses. This package aims to strengthen the industry, which is currently suffering from a noticeable recession. In a press release, she explained that the measures will include both energy and tax relief.
A central element of the package of measures is the expansion of research and funding programs specifically for medium-sized companies. Reiche also announced a reality check in energy policy. This is intended to examine the needs for renewable energies and secured performance. Particular attention is paid to security of supply and affordability, particularly in the context of the coal phase-out.
Energy supply in focus
In order to improve security of supply, Reiche is planning to quickly put new gas power plants out to tender. In addition, greater focus should be placed on technologies for using CO2. Another project is the withdrawal of technology bans in the area of building efficiency. Reiche announced that he would reduce bureaucracy in order to promote growth in medium-sized businesses. Tax relief

Reiche expressed optimism that these measures will get the German economy back on track for growth, but warned that this will be “not a walk in the park.”
The initiatives presented have met with broad approval among small and medium-sized businesses, which have been dependent on such support for a long time. The CDU/CSU also has one Discussion paper on energy policy emphasizes how important a sustainable and affordable energy supply is for the competitiveness of the German economy. These strategies are directly related to the measures Reiche announced today and aim to prioritize both environmental and economic goals.
