Robin Alexander, a prominent journalist and author, celebrates his 50th birthday on May 13, 2025. Born in Essen and raised in Wanne-Eickel, Alexander graduated from high school in 1994 and decided to study history and journalism at the University of Leipzig. In 1998 he began his traineeship at the taz in Berlin and was able to gain his first experience in the journalism industry there.

After his traineeship, Alexander quickly established himself as a significant voice in German journalism. From 2001 he worked as an editor and reporter for the taz. In 2006 he was a founding member of the German edition of Vanity Fair. His journalistic work spanned various stages; In 2008 he moved to Welt and Welt am Sonntag. There his focus was on reporting on the Chancellery, which earned him the position of chief reporter in 2017/2018. On March 1, 2018, he was named deputy editor-in-chief of the World.

Political reporting and podcast career

Alexander is known for his in-depth reporting and expertise on political issues. Since 2021 he has been hosting the podcast “Machtwechsel” together with Dagmar Rosenfeld.
