The WTSH figures showed that in 2023, 9 foreign companies with 184 jobs chose Schleswig-Holstein, compared to 11 companies and 559 jobs in 2022. In addition, ten companies from the rest of Germany moved to the north, compared to 19 in 2022. These companies brought 613 jobs with them, compared to 286 the previous year.

The planned battery factory of the Swedish company Northvolt and ongoing discussions about further locations are intended to improve the balance sheet for 2024. Northvolt is planning to create 3,000 jobs in the battery factory for electric cars near Heide. Green energy is Schleswig-Holstein's unique selling point, says Habeck.

Economics Minister Claus Ruhe Madsen (CDU) emphasized that the business model had to work for companies and that the energy had to be affordable. Green energy is abundant in the country and there is a window of opportunity for the country in view of the industrial restructuring. Sustainability plays a role in many settlements.

The facts suggest that Schleswig-Holstein is an attractive option for companies that rely on green energy. Northvolt's planned battery factory is expected to have a significant impact on the country's labor market and economy. Green energy and sustainability are crucial factors for companies that want to locate in Schleswig-Holstein.
