Economic challenges: DGB boss worries about German industry
According to a report by www.welt.de, DGB leader Yasmin Fahimi expresses concern about German industry and jobs. She cites inflation, the energy crisis and a lack of investment as reasons for the tense situation. These conditions could also have a negative impact on Germany as a location.
Energy prices primarily affect energy-intensive industries such as the chemical industry, the steel and iron industry as well as the cement, glass and paper industries. Rising energy prices could cause companies to no longer view Germany as an attractive location.
Due to the efforts to become climate neutral, it is important that investments are made in infrastructure. This not only affects the energy and transport system, but also the social infrastructure, such as schools and daycare centers. Fahimi is also calling for a reform of the debt brake in order to create at least a special fund for investments in infrastructure.
Against this background, poor working conditions and a lack of investment in the market could lead to a decline in industrial and employee locations in Germany. This, in turn, could lead to a reduction in jobs and investment in the economy.
