Economic policy as a top priority: Söder announces important topics

Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder recently made important aspects of economic policy in the Free State a top priority. This step is somewhat common, as economic policy often falls within the purview of a prime minister, especially when interacting with large companies. Nevertheless, Söder's statements are noteworthy because the CSU has long accused Economics Minister and Free Voters leader Hubert Aiwanger of neglecting economic policy in Bavaria and instead concentrating on other areas. However, Aiwanger rejects these allegations.

In addition, Söder's announcement is interesting because Aiwanger recently mentioned repeatedly that he would like to become Federal Minister of Economics in a possible coalition with the Union at the federal level. Nevertheless, according to current surveys, the Free Voters seem to have little chance of exceeding the five percent threshold in the elections, at least at the moment. Aiwanger has announced that he will run as the top candidate for the next federal election and would like to take care of energy and competition policy if he had the opportunity to do so in Berlin.

Over Pentecost, Söder plans to present proposals on important areas such as the establishment of new companies, energy, labor migration and the reduction of bureaucracy, in close cooperation with the relevant authorities. Close cooperation with the coalition partner is of great importance to him.
