Germany as a business location in danger: employers and unions are calling for urgent measures.
The employers' association Gesamtmetall and the trade union IG Metall have jointly appealed to the federal government to take urgent measures to strengthen Germany as an industrial location. The two organizations describe the increasing migration of companies abroad as a threatening sign of possible deindustrialization. Specifically, they are calling on the government to create competitive energy costs and more attractive investment conditions in order to increase the attractiveness of the location.
In addition, employers and unions are calling for a faster expansion of the infrastructure, especially in rural areas, the acceleration of planning and approval processes and a long-term raw materials strategy. In view of the shortage of skilled workers, they emphasize the need to place greater focus on education in order to secure qualified workers in the long term.
The communication urgently warns of the dangers that Germany faces as an industrial location.
