Economic turnaround before the European elections: Union calls on Lindner to act

The deputy parliamentary group leader of the Union in the Bundestag, Mathias Middelberg (CDU), has called on Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (FDP) to initiate the economic turnaround planned by the FDP before the European elections. In an interview with the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”, Middelberg emphasized the importance of concrete measures before the election date. The Union faction is submitting its own motion that calls for a “real economic turnaround,” with measures such as the reform of citizens’ money and the gradual abolition of the solidarity surcharge.

Middelberg praised the FDP's demands as courageous and stressed that an economic turnaround is urgently needed as German companies reduce production or leave the country. He emphasized that the FDP has adopted some of the Union's ideas in its twelve-point plan. However, the CDU politician underlined the importance that Lindner must implement a significant part of the demands in concrete agreements by the European elections, otherwise the current government coalition would be considered a failure.

Middelberg made it clear that if Lindner could not deliver by the election date, he should take the consequences and leave the government alliance. This clear demand clarifies the expectations for a rapid implementation of the planned economic policy measures. Economic development and the future of Germany are therefore the focus of current political discussions.
